PIRATE

Had the opportunity to light this animation that was animated by Fabian Martinez.

With this shot, I wanted it to feel like they are on their way home having a heartwarming conversation during sunset.

Spent several months working on the look dev of this shot. Modelled most of the props eg. their clothes, sail, the knots on the ropes. Added a wind simulation to the Sail. Textured and shaded everything as best as I can to keep it visually interesting. When the light hits, the specular/roughness of the material breaks up the light to create depth and creates a visually appealing environment .

Learnt how to use Clo while creating her bandana and xGen for their hair. Also followed a tutorial on creating an animated ocean using Bifrost Ocean Simulation System.

Created a before and after comparison between the original shot that was given to me and the completed shot after working on the look dev, shading, Lighting and Compositing

Nuke Script

Learnt a lot from working on this scene. It took me a really long time to finish it, but it was worth it.

This scene was lit with Arnold in Maya and composited in Nuke.

Would like to thank Francesco Giroldini for all the invaluable feedback and guidance.
